My name is Brittany Bailey. Since 2014, I have been a well-known and published Wedding & Portrait Photographer in Southern West Virginia. Proudly awarded with the best artistic services in the area. I'm twenty-three years old born and raised in Southern West Virginia. Currently located in Mt. Hope, West Virginia. I've spent many years working very interesting jobs. Usually juggling two jobs at one time. I've been in cosmetics working at Merle Norman Cosmetic Studio, I've worked in Tamarack: The Best of West Virginia, and even in clothing stores working in retail. I even had a summer job being a nanny. I've worked in makeup, I've worked with the best of the best artisans of West Virginia, I've worked in clothing, and with children. All of my past jobs have helped me in my photography career! Makeup, fashion, art, and being good with kids. I am very hard-working and I believe hard work in your young life is very important to learn responsibility.
"Hard work, optimism, and kindness will take you far in life." - Quoted from myself
I believe that every day of my life. I’ve always been one of the hardest working kids in the group with the happiest attitude and kindest heart. All of those aspects of my personality and heart have helped me become a successful business owner, daughter, sister, and friend. I think it is so important to smile at every person you see and friend every person you meet.
Why did I become a photographer? I love people. And by that I mean.. I LOVE PEOPLE. I've always been interested in photography. I love the camera. I've always loved the camera. There are so many pictures of me when I was small holding a camera. Someone told me when I was 17 years old, after taking their picture: "You should be a photographer. It's so easy for people to smile around you. You're so funny that a smile comes naturally. Why not?" - a life changing sentence to hear from a friend of mine. Little did they know, they sparked my career by saying that and encouraging the idea. A picture can be a frozen moment you can keep forever. Even if the people change or if you change, the picture will show a moment in time that you can never see/do twice. With a photo you can capture a moment, and have it forever. Photographers capture and create forever memories. I think we take that idea for granted, with photography being so ubiquitous these days. But seriously just take a second to appreciate that. Once you start noticing details, you start to see how much beauty is all around you. Every day is filled with it. Every photo session we do tells a story… whether it be seniors, families, children… we capture people’s love in a different point of view than they see themselves every day. I like to believe that photographers have the talent to show you your best self, your happiest self, and your real life love. Photographers really are visual storytellers and memory makers. Photography is the best career for me, best souvenir when I travel, a different way to see a person and the best way to express myself. Photography is definitely my whole life.
One of my favorite things to hear from people is that photographers are artists. Someone once told me I was an artist. I've always been more on the artsy side with music, theatre, painting, crafting, makeup and photography. I love when someone considers photography as an art and considers photographers as artists.
Photography is about seeing the world and expressing your feelings about it. I think it's an art form, not very different from poetry or painting. Rather than choosing the right words or the right brush stroke, you express your emotions through careful choice of lighting, composition, settings, etc. And when it comes to photography, portrait or scenic, you definitely have to have an eye for it!
Fun facts about myself: I'm an entrepreneur. I'm an artist and visual storyteller… every photo session tells a story. I am a total busy bee! I even have a bee tattoo on my arm. Bees are diligent and hard-working, kind of like myself. I'm a Christian. You're witnessing a social butterfly. I’m pretty crafty. I'm the biggest goofball in the world. I'm a mess.. a very messy person, unfortunately. Coffee is what runs through my veins. Ever want to surprise me? I like anything iced. I'm slow to anger. I love to talk with my hands. Scary movies, comedy movies, Disney EVERYTHING, and Tim Burton films are my all time favorites. Have you ever tried milk in your Dr. Pepper? If you haven't, you are missing out. I'm the most optimistic person in the world. I can find the good in everything and everyone. I love cats. I'm clumsy. I drive a yellow Volkswagen Beetle and an orange Nissan Rogue Sport… my fun car and adulthood car! Red lipstick is a must-have item. Lemon everything. I promise I can make you laugh.
You won't leave a photo shoot or a makeover session without smiling. ♡
